I am Italian - I don't eat Italian out because I am always disappointed . This is the first place that makes things that taste as good as my own! Service was fantastic. Everything was fresh and delicious - my personal favorite was the Eggplant rollatini with a side of meatballs and sausage. Mom had grouper francese that was unbelievable and other members of our party had lasagna and a chicken saltimboca. I cannot believe this adorable place is in Daytona - certifiable guaranteed excellent! So good i went back the next night!

This is one of the best Italian restaurants I've been to. I never expected to find it in Daytona Beach of all places but this place is legit, Sicilian style cooking reminds me of my nana's cooking from childhood. Highly recommend!

After several years we decided to go and try out what friends had been raving about. One of two tables, 40 minutes wait for dinner service and we received cold dishes with pasta that should have been fresh but was noticeably boxed. Should have gone years ago when our friends were raving, now just a dark distant memory of what once was a great place. On slow nights you would expect the chef to present themselves to guests. Guess that didn't occur to him or her.

Great food and speedy service. Seriously, everything we ate was incredibly tasty. My son had pizza - it was awesome. I had lasagna and my wife had chicken parm. All of it was tasty. The service was amazing. We were in and out but not rushed.

Great food. Great service. The bread with the sauce on it was phenomenal. Lasagna was fantastic. The only thing I could improve upon was that their deserts were wrapped on the tray. Not great for presentation, but it turned out great once unwrapped.

Ate here this past weekend, dining room had two tables of two and one table of 6 at time we sat down. Two servers, doubling as host and bus boys. Decor was somewhat quaint but tacky, menu was to be expected. I ordered fried calamari for an app with a side as well as shrimp fra diavlo. Calamari was loaded on plate in a huge portion and the shrimp came out drowning in sauce. Immediately this stood out as a restaurant stuck in the late 80s/early 90s. Both apps were edible but nothing to go back for. The shrimp were dropped on a flat plate then covered in red sauce. For dinner I ordered linguini and clam sauce and a side of meatballs (best way to judge an Italian restaurant). The wait time between apps leaving table to food going down was nearly 40 mins - way to long for a small place that was not crowded in anyway. Linguini was so-so, had a slight burnt after taste to it, meatballs were marginal. Both plates overloaded with respective sauces. This place seems to be stuck in a time where x-large portions was the norm and quantity trumped quality. If you need a place to eat and nothing else around go here, it's not horrible BUT if you're looking for an authentic Italian place skip it.

great place, very North Endish for you Bostonians , like Scott said further down. You will wait a bit for the food, but it is WORTH IT !! everything was fresh and served piping hot. Unfortunately I have been lax with my yelp reviewing and I cant remember the exact dish I had but it was a chicken in a white sauce that you bit into and went oooooooohhhhhhh , wife had egglant parm and loved it . Definately going back when in Daytona .

Food was amazing, young men servers were on point. Nice free apps and gelato to cleanse the pallet! Did have black soot falling from the AC vents onto our white tablecloths and into our food!!!!

I totally agree with Scott's assessment from 2 years ago. If you are in a hurry, this is not the place for you. Tom called it below. Food is outstanding, and the service was incredible. Owner, who doubles as a hostess, came to our table several times to ensure we were OK with the wait. Having grown up in New York City, I am used to dinners that are not just a meal, but an experience. We are visiting from San Diego, where most fine dining resembles a fast food experience. I had the veal Parmesan and my wife had the eggplant special. Both were awesome. Even the bread they serve was fresh, hot, and delicious. Overall, it was an awesome EXPERIENCE!

After reading rave reviews and having tried Anna's a couple of times previously, I thought maybe we had hit the restaurant on an 'off' night before so we tried again. We arrived shortly after opening hours for dinner. The first thing I noticed as we walked toward the restaurant was several stacks of chairs in a front window giving the appearance of the restaurant being closed, but it wasn't. When we went in, the overpowering smell of Pine-Sol hit us. I distinctly remember this smell from the last time we were here and from my mother's bathroom after cleaning day. I like a clean smell in a restaurant, but when the cleaning agent overwhelms the scent of food, there's something wrong! After being greeted by a very cheery young server, we ordered a small antipasti to share. Salami cold cuts, some slivers of mozzarella or parmesan cheese and a fatty capicola or proscuitto (?), tasteless tomatoes, and cucumbers were presented on a thick bed of lettuce...lots of lettuce. Somehow, I thought antipasti would have roasted red peppers, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, olives, etc. This was more like a salad. Penne Bolognese and Grouper Genovese were served for our entree. The sauce for the penne had finely ground meat in a very thin, watery sauce, giving the dish little taste. The server had described the Grouper Genovese as having a creamy sauce with vegetables. Traditional Genovese sauce has prosciutto, salami and vegetables and is cooked for hours. When served, there was enough grouper in a spicy, garlicky red sauce (not much on vegetables or meat) to serve two people. We noticed that most tables were having spaghetti with meatballs or lasagna, which should have been our clue that there might not be much thought given to the food preparation. We had lots left over, but opted not to take a 'doggy bag'. I never did get over the smell of Pine-Sol.

Daytona needs a real Italian restaurant, this is not it. Although we always try to avoid chains and support local independents it seems that if you are in the Daytona/ Ormandy area you should stick with multiple- units Annas uses the same not really good brown sauce on a multiple of dishes and just throws lemon in it for limone, or a little sage for saltimbocca..YUK...the bruchetta tomatoes were more a sauce than the nicely diced and seasoned pieces that can make this dish. I imagine the escargot are on the menu as a treat for the remaining bluhairs in this area but not worth the effort or price. Penne vodka was not bad but again the antipasto lack imagination and was boring. I really wish this experience was better, we continue to look for quality in this area but just keep striking out. Cook at home it will be way better.

Here is the deal. If you are planning to sit down and be out in 30-45 minutes this is not the restaurant for you. However, with a little patience Anna's is a treat. A meal not just dinner. It started with fresh hot bread, dinner salads and aps. The aps we had were delicious as was the fresh bread and salad. Inbetween courses they served a lime gelato sorbet to clens the palate. For my main I had brociole (braised stuffed rolled beef) and it was so big i took half home and it was great. My buddy ha saltinbucca and he tells me it was the best he has ever had. The desert was cheese cake and tirimisu and both we top notch. I would totally recommend this restaurant but leave the kids at home.

This little place was a little odd looking when we first walked in. It has an old fashioned decor that kind of put me off. By the end of the meal, it grew on me. It was kind of like being in an Italian friends grandmothers house. The food really won me over though. I loved everything I had. My husband, while liked it, was not quiet as impressed as I was, hence the four stars. The portions were very generous and the service very friendly. Each meal came with a bruchetta appetizer, bread and butter and a salad. There were several specials not on the menu, which was quite large. I couldn't even look at the desert tray. I was so full, but from what I saw out of the corner of my eye, I would still have ordered one.

This is a classic family run Italian restaurant that has been a staple in Daytona for 22 years. They make a different soup alternative to salad daily, which is included with your entree, as is a side of pasta. Food and service are excellent and prices are most reasonable. For a great quiet dinner away from the tourist din, this is a real find!

Anna's was excellent! Being from New York and having an Italian background I thought it would be next to impossible to find great Italian food in Florida and in Daytona beach at that but I was wrong. Anna's is clean, intimate and the service was great. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. I had the eggplant parmesan and my fiancé had a chicken dish that was a special that evening. He's not a huge fan of Italian food and he was raving about his dish all night. The food was perfectly cooked and you cannot beat their prices or portion sizes. Homemade bread, bruschetta and a sorbet palate cleanser were nice touches. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!

Loved it! I just lived in Italy for a year and this really gives the Italian vibe. The staff is very knowledgable and friendly. The food is great and the wine is even better. If you are looking for a clam get away after a long day at the beach than this is your spot. I suggest the merlot.

The food was exceptional! There was definitely a wait, but the service was above and beyond. It was worth the wait! I highly recommend this restaurant.

This place is quaint but the food was great and service was topnotch. This is a tiny little restaurant that is intimate and "mom and pop". The kind of place were everyone whispers so not to disturb the other patrons and where your checks are still written out by hand. Our entrees were delicious and the service was very attentive. We were disappointed with the Caesar salads though. It seemed like the dressing was more Italian dressing that Caesar dressing. Beer and wine only which we didn't know going in. The prices are fair given the amount of food you get - entree portions are very reasonable plus you get salad, a little bruschetta, bread and butter, and then sorbet between courses as well. If you are looking for a quiet dinner on Daytona, this would be a good choice.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
